These principles include guidelines for personal hygiene, maintaining good health, and promoting healthy social conduct. Eight of these principles are dedicated to the preservation of biodiversity, which is crucial in addressing global warming and promoting sound animal husbandry. These principles encompass a ban on killing animals and cutting down green trees, along with a commitment to protect all forms of life. Notably, the firewood used by the Bishnoi people is devoid of small insects.

Day 10: Udaipur – Pushkar Sighseeing

Nestled in the central-eastern part of Rajasthan, on the western side of the Aravalli Mountains, Pushkar is a sacred city for both Hindus and Sikhs, and it’s known for its religious significance. In Pushkar, the consumption of meat and eggs is strictly prohibited.

Many of Pushkar’s temples and ghats date back to the 18th century and beyond. During earlier Muslim conquests in the region, numerous temples were destroyed, but they were subsequently rebuilt. One of the most famous temples in Pushkar is the red-spired Brahma Temple, which holds a special place in the hearts of Indians. It’s the world’s only temple dedicated to Lord Brahma, with his idol enshrined in the inner sanctum.

Pushkar is situated on the shores of the sacred Pushkar Lake, which features many ghats where pilgrims come to bathe. This lake is often referred to as ‘Tirtha Raj,’ signifying the king of all pilgrimage sites. The city is renowned for its annual Pushkar Camel Fair, a lively event that includes the trading of cattle, horses, and camels. This fair lasts for seven days and takes place in the autumn, coinciding with Kartika Purnima, according to the Hindu calendar (usually in October or November). It attracts nearly 200,000 people.

This extensive fort, extending over 3 kilometers, was constructed by Jai Singh II in 1726. It houses one of the largest cannons globally, the impressive Jaivana Cannon, with a barrel length of 6.15 meters (20.2 feet) and a weight of 50 tons.

You’ll spend the night in Jaipur.

The sanctuary hosts thousands of birds during the winter months, as it’s a popular spot for migratory birds. Established 250 years ago, the park derives its name from the Keoladeo (Shiva) temple. In the past, it served as a hunting ground for the Maharajas of Bharatpur.

Finally, we’ll continue to Agra and check into your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 14: Agra- Delhi Sightseeing

We’ll begin our day with a visit to the Taj Mahal at sunrise, as it’s when this iconic monument looks most stunning and mesmerizing. This mausoleum was constructed by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It stands as a masterpiece of Mughal architecture, fusing elements from Persian, Ottoman, Indian, and Islamic architectural styles. In 1983, it earned UNESCO World Heritage Site status.

After enjoying the Taj Mahal, we’ll return to the hotel for breakfast. Following that, we’ll explore Agra Fort, an impressive complex built around 1576, situated about 2.5 kilometers northwest of the Taj Mahal. It served as the residence of the great Mughal emperors and the hub of governance for the country. Our next stop will be the Tomb of I’timad-ud-Daulah, often referred to as the “Baby Taj.” This Mughal mausoleum, constructed from 1622 to 1628, marks a transition in Mughal architectural styles, incorporating white marble and pietra dura inlay, much like the elegant Taj Mahal.

Another architectural masterpiece, the tomb of the Mughal emperor Akbar in Sikandra, situated a short distance from Agra, is our next destination.

To conclude our day’s tour, we’ll visit Mehtab Bagh at sunset. This garden, also known as the Moonlight Garden, was the last of eleven Mughal gardens constructed along the Yamuna River, directly across from the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort in the floodplains. The square-shaped garden spans approximately 300 by 300 meters and is meticulously aligned with the Taj Mahal on the opposite bank.

After a full day of exploring, we’ll return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
