Gujarat boasts a rich historical and artistic heritage, with Pithora paintings adorning its walls and an array of handcrafted treasures. It is a land of architectural marvels that narrate a captivating tale spanning from the ancient Harappan Civilization to the opulent Mughal era.

Notably, Gujarat is the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation, and a guardian of tribal traditions that fill us with pride. Day 1: Arrive Ahmedabad (WELCOME TO INDIA) 

Our adventure starts at Ahmedabad airport. Get ready for an exciting journey filled with diverse cultures and vibrant landscapes. It’s the perfect adventure you’ve been looking for.

Day 2: Ahemdabad – Patan – Modhera – Balram Palace (THE UNIQUE SOIL)   

Today, our journey leads us to Balram Palace, a place where architectural beauty speaks for itself, and where the journey itself holds hidden treasures. Along the way, you’ll encounter the Salvi community, known for their exquisite craftsmanship in the villages of Patan and Modhera. They are renowned for their fine and meticulously woven Patola fabric. You’ll have the opportunity to witness the entire weaving process, from the start to the creation of the flawless Patola fabric. Additionally, you’ll see the production of mushroom fabrics, a combination of silk and cotton, with the latter forming the backing, along with the dyeing and design process. What’s truly captivating is the ease and dedication that the weavers display in their art.

As we continue, you’ll gain insight into the prominent role women have played in Gujarat’s history through visits to Rani Ki Vav and Patan Step Well. These architectural marvels, built by Queen Udaymati, the wife of Bhimdev, showcase the ingenuity of water wells in this unique region. You’ll be mesmerized by the intricately carved images adorning the niches of the well’s walls. This enchanting structure, once one of the largest and most lavish of its kind, stands as a testament to unparalleled artistry and the advancement of its era.

The Modhera Sun Temple, dating back to 1026 AD, is another remarkable stop on our journey. It is dedicated to the Sun God and represents a pinnacle of Indo-Aryan Hindu temple architecture. You’ll be astonished by the level of thought and technical skill dedicated to constructing this monument, which allows the innermost sanctum to be illuminated by the rising sun rays.

This journey will take you deep into the roots of Gujarat, offering a diverse range of experiences that will leave you with exotic memories to cherish. Our final destination is Balram Palace, a heritage hotel that not only exudes a legacy but also captivates with its scenic beauty, remarkable architecture, and luxurious accommodations.

DAY 03: BALARAM PALACE – DASADA (THE HEART OF WILDLIFE) 

After indulging in luxury and recharging for our upcoming adventure, we’re off to Dasada, a fantastic place for bird watchers. Leaving Balram Palace, a former hunting retreat, we enter the world of exotic birds in Dasada. It’s well-known for its wildlife, offering plenty of mysteries for you to discover.

Day 04: DASADA (FEEL THE SERENITY)

In the expansive white canvas of the Rann of Kutch, stretching as far as the eye can see, you’ll be captivated by the mesmerizing water bodies and the elegant pink flamingoes that call this place home. Here, you’ll have the unique opportunity to witness the intriguing salt production process and discover the dedication of the Agariyas (Salt Farmers). These hardworking individuals reside in the desert for eight months, contributing to over 75% of India’s salt production.

As you explore the authentic tribal life in the nearby Rabari and Bhairwad villages, you’ll be immersed in their rich culture. The region is a melting pot of diverse communities, from Padhars, Siddis, semi-nomadic Mirs, Jaths, to many others. Today, you’ll have the privilege of connecting with one of India’s devoted and humble communities, experiencing their unwavering commitment to their work. This journey is a unique window into the cultural tapestry of this extraordinary region.

Day 05: Basada – Bhuj (Land of Artistry) 

Our next destination is Bhuj, a place that embodies historic craftsmanship and is adorned with artistic palaces. Upon arrival, we’ll visit the Collector’s office to obtain the necessary permit for the upcoming two days of exploration in this exotic region. Don’t miss the chance to explore every nook and cranny of the local tribal market, brimming with a wide array of handmade treasures that will undoubtedly captivate your attention. Today, take the opportunity to rest and recharge, preparing yourself for the adventures that lie ahead.

Day 06: Bhuj- Kutch (ROOTS TO TRADITION)

In this enchanting journey, you’ll discover the captivating artistry of the Meghwal-Harijans through their intricate embroideries, including the alluring Kambira, Kharek, and Kudi stitches. These stitches bring to life exquisite mirror designs, adorning charming wall hangings, vibrant waistcoats, pouches in Kharek Stitch, and finely crafted “Moti Bharat” beadwork on handheld fans. Delicate bracelets, toys, and belts showcase the artistic prowess of this region.

As we continue our adventure, we’ll navigate the potable waters of the Jheels in Hodka village aboard Hodi boats, immersing ourselves in the local way of life. Hodka is renowned for its embroidery, creative mud work, and beautiful leather crafts. Here, you’ll witness the spirit of equality as both men and women come together to nurture the art and craft of the region.

Our journey will also take us to Ludiya Village, where Harijans and Muslims coexist harmoniously, engaging in monsoon farming, cattle rearing, intricate wood carving, embroidery, mud-work, and wall painting to adorn their homes. Harijan men showcase their skills in fascinating wood carving, while women excel in embroidery and intricate wall decorations.

We’ll then proceed to Dhoro, where you’ll encounter mud houses adorned with unique mirror work, known as “bhungas.” These houses are a testament to the stunning Mutwa embroidery, embellished with tiny mirrors, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the region.

The adventure continues as we explore the Great Rann of Kutch, where you’ll experience the serenity of the white soil and be treated to breathtaking vistas, perfect for capturing stunning photographs. Full moon nights here are particularly magical, as the white sands come alive under the enchanting moonlight.

Day 07: Kutch- Bhuj (The Transition) 

Leaving behind the mesmerizing beauty of the vast white expanse that stretches as far as the eye can see, we’ll make our way back to the land of craftsmanship, Bhuj. This journey in itself is a transition that will fill your heart with joy as you watch the landscapes change before your eyes.

Upon reaching Bhuj, it’s time to delve into the local markets and immerse yourself in the vibrant culture. Witness the artistry that radiates creativity and liveliness, and of course, don’t forget to fill your shopping bag with a treasure trove of goodies. This is the perfect opportunity to interact with the locals, absorb the essence of the region, and discover the heart of this captivating place.

DAY 08: Bhuj- Gondal (Into the Royalty) 

Today, you’ll step into the rich legacy of the Gondal family at Orchard Palace, a splendid heritage stay that was once the venue for entertaining the Maharajas’ guests. This palace boasts the charm of 1940s art décor furniture, exquisite decor, and beautiful handicrafts. Imagine looking out of your window into a garden where peacocks and peahens dance with glory, the melodious chirping of birds soothing your senses, and the tranquil ambiance providing solace to your soul.

Explore the enchanting lime, mango, and chickoo trees that grace this paradise with their presence. And don’t miss the opportunity to discover the alluring Rail Saloon, originally designed by royalty and now transformed into a luxurious suite with all the comforts you could desire.

DAY 09: GONDAL TO SASANAGIR (TAP THE NATURE) 

Step into the captivating world of exotic wildlife, where the symphony of fauna fills the air, and the aroma of lush flora envelops your senses. Brace yourself for a unique and thrilling adventure as we explore Gir National Park, the exclusive natural habitat of the majestic Asiatic lions.

Embark on adventurous jeep rides that will lead you through magnificent deciduous forests and lush green grasslands. In this safari, you’ll have the opportunity to witness charming leopards, adorable deer, agile antelopes, cunning hyenas, gliding crocodiles, and a captivating array of birds.

Prepare to have your hearts brimming with enthusiasm as every glimpse in this wildlife sanctuary is nothing short of extraordinary. Get ready for an encounter that’s bound to exceed your expectations and leave you enchanted by the natural world.

DAY 10:  Sasangir – Bhavnagar (The DIAMOND HUB)

Now it’s time to leave your footprints on the sandy safari trails as we bid farewell to the enchanting fauna. We’ll steer our ship towards the impeccable land of Bhavnagar, where the Gulf of Khambat’s carefree waves meet the bustling Indian center of ocean trade. In Bhavnagar, you’ll discover a rich tapestry of authenticity, from traditional handicrafts to the opulence of the diamond industry. This city has nurtured great achievers and stands as a cultural hub of Gujarat.

Prepare to be awestruck by the flawless architecture of the Takhteshwar Temple, crafted from white marble and dedicated to Lord Shiva—the protector and the destroyer. From its hilltop vantage point, soak in the panoramic view of the city and the Gulf of Cambay, allowing the surrounding beauty to captivate your senses.

Travel back in time to the 19th century as we explore the Nilambag Palace, a living testament to heritage that has been transformed into a hotel. The palace’s exquisite architecture and historical significance will leave you amazed.

Mahatma Gandhi, a name known throughout the country, beckons you to explore the Gandhi Smriti Museum. Inside, you’ll find a fine collection of photographs, letters, and other heirlooms that narrate the story of this legendary figure. Prepare to be mesmerized by his profound philosophy and lifestyle.

Amidst the serenity of Victoria Park, where nature walks, a curated zoo, and a well-crafted museum await, you’ll relish in the tranquility of this beautiful setting. Conclude your day by enjoying the sunset at Ghogha Beach, savoring every moment of this adventurous journey.

Day 11: Bhavnagar to Ahmedabad (Return to Capital city) 

Ahmedabad, the heartbeat of Gujarat, is a city of incredible diversity. Here, you’ll find a rich tapestry of cultures, vibrant textile industries, delectable street food, and thriving diamond merchants. Let’s embark on a journey to unlock the enchantment of this magical city.

Our quest begins with solving the riddle behind the city’s name, and to do that, we’ll visit Bhadra Fort. Constructed in 1411 AD by Ahmed Shah, the fort lends its name to this marvelous city. It was once used as a prison by the British until India gained independence. Within its walls lies a treasure trove of historical gems, such as the Teen Darwaza, a magnificent gateway. Prepare to be enchanted by the Jhulta Minarets, where the movement of one minaret sets off a chain reaction, despite having no visible connection.

As you explore Ahmedabad’s culture, a visit to Siddi Saiyed Mosque awaits, a place that will touch your heart with its exquisite architecture. To immerse yourself in the essence of the city, we’ll also visit Sabarmati Ashram, the very abode where the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, resided for 13 years. This historic site served as the launchpad for the iconic Dandi March, a pivotal step towards India’s independence. Prepare to be filled with a sense of pride and admiration as you walk in the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi.

Day 12:   Explore Ahmedabad and Depart

Explore the history of Gandhinagar, Gujarat’s capital, named after Mahatma Gandhi. It was once a battleground but is now a bustling city.

Discover the touching love story at the Adalaj Stepwell, built in 1498 by Queen Rudadevi in memory of her husband Rana Veer Singh. It’s a masterpiece of Indian architecture.

We’ll also visit the BAPS Akshardham Temple, a grand Hindu temple complex, and experience a sense of peace.

This day offers a mix of experiences, from history and architecture to heartwarming stories and tranquility. 

Goodbyes are tough, but we’ll meet again to explore more of India. Our journey takes us back to Ahmedabad for your departure
